About the Author

The Rocky Bluff Police Department in Murder in the Worst Degree is a cast of multi-dimensional characters who face a variety of crises and joys, know each other’s secrets, and care about each other. They also solve murder and rape cases. I like this book because it deals realistically and humanely with true crises or opportunities (depending on your perspective). These include special needs children, Alzheimer’s Disease, end-of-life decisions, and balancing careers and marriage. Don’t worry if you haven’t read other books in the series, you’ll catch on quickly. However, reading this book may make you want to check out details on the characters in earlier books. --Janet Greger, author of Ignore the Pain

“As always, all the plot lines are completed, and the ending is very satisfying. This is a great read and highly recommended.”  —Larry K. & Lorna Collins, author of The Memory Keeper ---

“...doesn’t neglect the drama of her character’s lives in this most enjoyable short novel.”  —C.K. Crigger, author of Two Feet Below and Three Seconds to Thunder ---

I many ways this entire series goes "outside the box" normally set up for a mystery series. The stories are all about officers in the Rocky Bluff Police Department and their families. Outside the box? One way is that point of view shifts are many and frequent but--surprisingly--not confusing. We learn what all individual members of the PD are thinking as well as what they're doing, and are also privy to the thoughts of some in their families. All of the characters soon become close friends of the reader's and we really care about their lives, whether it be in crime solving, family difficulties, or in what their fears and joys are. Meredith has several police officers in her family so is privy to what really goes on in a police department in a relatively small town. All the events and thoughts not only seem accurate, one can trust that they do follow real life in most cases. MURDER IN THE WORST DEGREE is the latest novel in the series, and, though there are references to past events in the series, enough information is dropped seamlessly into the plot to satisfy our curiosity. I know of no other author who handles multiple points of view so masterfully, OR who entertains and thrills me so completely! Only quibble--I don't think the cover does the book justice, and the "in the" part of the title is lost in the--I suppose it's the beach--scenery. (Well, the series IS set in an ocean-side community.)

Good book with a great cast. Light but still compelling. Love these characters who will be great over the long haul.

This was a good story, there wasn't as much suspense as I thought there. Ignite me, but it was a nice read.

My favorite Rocky Bluff PD mystery. This is saying a lot since I love all of the books in this series. Meredith knows how to tell a great tale with realistic and believable characters. The series follows the officers in the RBPD from book to book, but it isn't necessary to have read earlier books in order to appreciate later books in the series. Each book is complete in itself. In this one, surfers stumble upon a dead body--and the adventure begins.

3.5 Stars. Stand-alone with multiple cases and personnel issues.
Police procedural steps were not always followed, or in a timely manner, which dropped my rating by .5.

Easy to follow storylines. Believable characters with both strong and distinct personalities. Entertaining dialogue.

No desire to re-read this story. I am interested in other works by this author.

What a storyline. This was a good story with a lot of intrigue and suspense. The characters were well defined and stayed true to their part. The story had a surprise ending that tied the whole story together. I enjoyed this book and thought the author wrote a good story.
